    More about tone mapping

Maybe i don't understand this correctly, but why is there tone mapping set as default for HDR images? I would think that the correct way to render would be to have linear tone mapping in the HDRI environment and then use tone mapping in the final image after everything has been calculated. Since i only see logarithmic and Reinhard, how could those settings be altered to get  linear tone mapping? As i mentioned in another post, it would be nice if the HDRI tone mapping was available for the final rendering. I think it would be relatively easy to add since the code is already there (or not, i really have no idea).

The tone mapping for HDRs is only used for LDR conversion - in other words, what you see in the environment preview and what other non HDR renderers will use for textures.  It's a bit confusing I agree - you should notice that changing the tone mapper makes no difference to the rendering in Brazil.

I also agree with you that it would be nice to have those tone mappers in the color adjustment controls.  I'll try to get that stuff in.

Thanks, that makes sense. I did try to change the settings but since there was no effect i just assumed they were broken (you can't blame me for that).
