There's no way to specify part of a view to render, a 'real' render with your set resolution that you can save? I believe in the Max version it's called cropping.

Permalink Reply by jim.carruthers on January 28, 2012 at 7:30pm Hmm, first simple test I did seemed to do what I wanted, second didn't seem to. I want it to pay attention to the output resolution specified in Brazil, so that I can render out a fix for a small area of a 9K wide shot.

Hi Jim,
Another option would be to use NewFloatingViewport and set the aspect ratio in object properties. Then you can render to viewport size in settings with that one active. This will give you more control for re-renders vs the dragging of another window.

But is RenderInWindow supposed to do what I want? It seems to only render at the size of the window I pick.
I don't believe it is supposed to use a set resolution. That's why I mentioned this alternate approach which I have used to control the re-render. If you use a saved view in the floating viewport as well, it can also help save time while tweaking. If the Max version is different in this respect, I am unaware.

Permalink Reply by jim.carruthers on February 1, 2012 at 8:01am Never heard of it, it doesn't auto-complete for me either. It does indeed seem to be what I want, what Jonah said about making it easier to "register" would be good.
